Position: Senior Engineer – Manufacturing
Reports to: Manager – Manufacturing
Location: Vallam Vadagal, Oragadam

POSITION SUMMARY

• The Engineer - Production is responsible for effectively supervising employees in a designated area of manufacturing to ensure a safe work environment, meet production deadlines, and attain established goals in the areas of production quality, delivery, and cost. Be the role model for high standards in the organization by reflecting the KYB Beliefs and Values.  

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred.  
• Minimum 3 – 5 years (5 -7 years if Diploma in Tool & Die making) supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required; experience in the automotive industry preferred.
• Strong technical skills and knowledge of lean manufacturing processes/procedures required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications - Word, Excel and Power Point required.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills essential.
• Familiarity with latest concepts like TPM, TQM,TPS etc.
• Familiar with ISO/TS16949 & ISO14001 systems and procedures.
• A flair to work along with Young Diploma holders.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Manufacturing process knowledge which includes Casting – Aluminium gravity casting, Assembly Operations, Machining, Buffing, Forming, Welding Painting, dies, tools and related process settings, problem solving and trouble-shooting.

• Support and drive the lean manufacturing system; assign work; and recommend and implement improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, employee relations, and working conditions.

• Oversee all departmental activities and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and procedures and applicable laws.  

• Knowledge of quality control and assurance practices and that of quality system

• Analytical and problem solving abilities

• Ability to guide, train and motivate team of young Diploma Holders.

• Result orientated. Should be able to independently manage and achieve shift production and quality requirements as per target.

• Should be able to ensure discipline and safety in the shop floor.

• Willing to work in shifts.

• Resolve employee issues, ensure positive employee relations, and promote and enforce all company policies fairly and consistently.

• Responsible for area performance measures and individual employee work performance; provide coaching and direction to employees; and work with the Manufacturing Manager to identify development and/or training needs for employees.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for all manufacturing activities in a shift-production output, quality, safety, productivity, discipline etc.

• Responsible for carrying out continuous improvements in his shift.

• Responsible to keep a tab on the pulse of his operating team- should be able to constantly communicate with them, guide them and motivate them for continuously higher performance.

• Responsible for devising ways and means to improve competency of his team members by training and job allocations.

• Responsible for periodic performance planning and performance appraisal of Company apprentices/Operating Engineers.

• Will be required to take active part in implementing world class manufacturing concepts such as 5-S, TPM, TQM., TPS, Kaizen, etc in the shop floor.
